realme recently was announced as the fastest smartphone brand to sell 100 million smartphones globally.
The young company did so despite the global challenges during this Covid-19 pandemic, hitting the milestone in just three years.
The data to prove realme had reached this milestone was released from research firm International Data Corporation (IDC).
Growing in global markets
According to the brand, this achievement has further validated realme’s sales and business strategies across the globe as the company which was established in 2018 is now ranked the 7th largest smartphone brand in the world.
It has presence in 61 different markets worldwide and ranks at Top 5 smartphone makers in 13 markets, claiming first place in Philippines and Bangladesh, fourth in India and Russia as well as fifth in the Europe region in Q2 2021.
This 100-million milestone is the latest in line of realme’s spectacular global rise, as the company adds another ‘first’ to its name.
Previously, realme was one of the first to introduce the 125W UltraDart charging technology, and among the first equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor.
Its phones were one of the first in the world with a 64-megapixel camera with the company being the first to launch a 5G phone under US$200 (RM900).
Moving forward
Despite achieving so many records, realme is planning ahead to achieve more sales in coming years as it expand its offerings in two ways namely its flagship GT Series devices, and its full-fledged AIoT (Artificial Intelligence Internet of Things) ecosystem.
The AIoT ecosystem will be built for global users within the next five years with the company using its 1+5+T strategy to further boost its position as an important player in the technology market.
The strategy underlines 1 is the mobile phone, 5 stands for True Wireless Stereo earphones, wearables, TVs, tablets, laptops, and T stands for realme’s AIoT brand TechLife.
In Malaysia, realme Malaysia is ranked firmly among the top 5 Smartphone Vendors in Q2 2021.
This rank is given according to Canalys Estimates (sell-in shipments), Smartphones Analysis and it is only expected that the brand will further surge up as it does offer a lot of value for money products in recent years.
