It is reported on XDA developers that some Xiaomi devices are suffering from Xiaomi touch screen problem.
The problem causes the screen to freeze with one unable to scroll despite touching the screen.

Xiaomi smartphones affected by the touch screen problem
The issue seems to be not exclusive to just one Xiaomi smartphone model, and is said to affect newer Xiaomi devices.
The root of the issue is not known just yet but reports suggest that the problem starts after the upgrade to MIUI 12.5. This means it might be caused by a software issue.
On Reddit, a thread posted posted two months ago revealed that some users with the following phones seem to be affected by the problem as well.
- Xiaomi Mi 11
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra
- Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite
- Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro
- Redmi Note 10 Pro
- Redmi Note 9S
There is no indication that this is a widespread issue but Xiaomi has confirmed that they are aware of the Xiaomi touch screen problem and are currently working to have it fixed.
That said, if you have not updated your MIUI to 12.5, maybe it’s best to hold back doing so for now.
