Xiaomi has officially introduced the new REDMI 17 Series in Malaysia, bringing larger batteries, smoother displays, and improved durability to its affordable smartphone lineup.
The launch includes the REDMI 17, REDMI 17 5G, and the entry-level REDMI A7, all designed to offer strong value for users seeking reliable everyday devices.
The biggest highlight of the REDMI 17 Series is its massive 7,500mAh battery, which Xiaomi says is built to provide extended battery life for streaming, gaming, browsing, and daily communication.
Both models also feature a large 6.9-inch display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, delivering a more responsive viewing experience for entertainment and everyday use.
Under the hood, the REDMI 17 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor paired with UFS 2.2 storage, while the standard REDMI 17 uses the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra chipset.
Both devices support up to 12GB RAM expansion, helping improve multitasking performance.
Photography is handled by a 50MP AI dual-camera system, offering AI-powered scene optimisation and enhanced image processing for clearer, more vibrant photos.
Xiaomi has also improved durability by equipping both smartphones with an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.
The REDMI 17 Series is also the first in the REDMI lineup to feature a dynamic RGB notification light for incoming calls and alerts.
Joining the new lineup is the REDMI A7, an affordable smartphone featuring a 6.88-inch 120Hz display, a 5,200mAh battery, a Unisoc T7250 octa-core processor, and a 13MP AI camera. It also supports Wet Touch Technology for improved touchscreen responsiveness in damp conditions.
Malaysia Price and Availability
The REDMI 17 Series is available starting 8 August through Xiaomi Stores nationwide, Xiaomi’s official online store, Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.
Buyers who purchase the REDMI 17 Series between 8 and 31 August will also receive an after-sales package that includes a 24-month warranty, one free screen replacement within 24 months, one free battery replacement within 36 months, and one free cover or camera lens replacement service within 24 months.
