iQOO 16 Global Launch: 2K 165Hz Display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, 8,400mAh Battery

iQOO has officially launched the iQOO 16 globally, introducing a new flagship smartphone focused on mobile gaming, display technology and high-end performance.

Among its major highlights are the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Mobile Platform, the world’s first 2K 165Hz Samsung Everest Display, a dedicated Q4 esports chip and an 8,400mAh battery.

Developed around iQOO’s proprietary “3+2 Gaming Technology Framework”, the iQOO 16 combines graphics, controls and performance tuning with cross-device gaming and live streaming capabilities.

The smartphone also introduces several hardware upgrades, including a 50MP triple-camera system, 100W wired FlashCharge, 40W wireless charging and OriginOS 7.

iQOO 16 Introduces World’s First 2K 165Hz Samsung Display

One of the biggest highlights of the iQOO 16 is its 2K 165Hz Samsung Everest Display, jointly developed by iQOO and Samsung Display.

The smartphone is the first Android device to feature Samsung’s M16 emissive material and 2K LEAD 2.0 technology, delivering sharper visuals, smoother animations and improved power efficiency.

The display supports a global peak brightness of up to 2,800 nits, while consuming 31% less power compared with a same-sized 1.5K display.

For gamers, iQOO 16 supports 165Hz refresh rates across more than 100 applications and over 50 popular games. Its proprietary Q-flex control technology also aims to reduce touch latency, while frame synchronisation helps minimise motion blur during fast-paced gameplay.

Each display undergoes individual calibration, with pixel-level compensation across its 9.12 million subpixels to ensure consistent brightness and colour reproduction.

The panel also features 1-nit colour restoration, helping preserve colour accuracy and tonal details when viewing dark scenes at low brightness.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Dedicated Q4 Esports Chip

Performance is another major focus of the iQOO 16.

The flagship is powered by the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Mobile Platform, paired with LPDDR5X Ultra Pro memory and UFS 4.1 storage.

It also features iQOO’s dedicated Q4 esports chip, which delivers 15% higher performance, 19% faster cache speeds and 19% more AI computing power compared with its predecessor.

The Q4 chip supports simultaneous full-scene ray tracing, game super resolution and frame interpolation, effectively functioning as a dedicated graphics processor for mobile gaming.

Other gaming technologies include virtual point light rendering, HDR effects and an 8K Game Camera for capturing high-resolution screenshots while retaining visual effects.

To maintain consistent performance during extended gaming sessions, iQOO has equipped the device with an 8.5K Ice Dome VC liquid cooling system.

The new Monster Core Engine also introduces an in-house scheduling system designed to optimise resource allocation at kernel level, improving frame-rate stability while reducing power consumption.

iQOO 16 supports 165Hz gameplay in more than 100 games, alongside built-in super resolution and frame interpolation features for selected titles.

For six popular mobile games, the smartphone supports simultaneous 2K resolution and 165FPS through its super resolution and frame interpolation technologies.

PC Gaming Technologies Come to Mobile

iQOO is also expanding its gaming ecosystem through a partnership with Unreal Engine.

The collaboration will focus on integrating advanced graphics technologies into iQOO’s hardware and software development, including Unreal Engine 5 features such as Lumen and Nanite.

These technologies are intended to bring more realistic lighting and advanced graphics rendering to mobile gaming.

The iQOO 16 also introduces Q-flex, a control technology integrated directly into the game rendering pipeline.

By synchronising frame production with system processing, Q-flex is designed to deliver lower touch latency and more precise controls.

The device will also be the first to support native 165FPS gameplay at maximum image quality in Honor of Kings.

A dedicated touch control chip and next-generation gyroscope further enhance responsiveness for taps, swipes, movement and aiming.

Cross-Device Gaming and Live Streaming Features

Beyond mobile gaming, the iQOO 16 also supports PC game emulation, with compatibility for nearly 100 PC titles.

Its Game Space Large Screen Mode creates a dedicated gaming environment when the smartphone is connected to an external display, supporting more than 20 popular mobile games.

For content creators, iQOO has included a complete live streaming workflow with native high-frame-rate output and original-quality encoding.

Additional features include a dedicated Honor of Kings streaming template and intelligent video editing tools.

iQOO 16 Design and Colour Options

The iQOO 16 adopts an “Exploration and Excellence” design concept, featuring a futuristic appearance and a distinctive camera module.

It will be available in three colour options: Chasing Light, Legend and Racing Track.

The Chasing Light variant features AG glass combined with a laser holographic imaging process, creating a three-dimensional rear pattern with changing red and blue lighting effects depending on the viewing angle.

At the rear, the Tomorrow Porthole camera module houses three cameras beneath transparent glass, arranged in a mechanical-inspired design.

50MP Triple Camera System with Periscope Telephoto

Despite its gaming-focused positioning, the iQOO 16 also receives significant camera upgrades.

Its main camera features a 50MP sensor with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size, capturing up to 79% more light.

The camera system is supported by CIPA 5.5 professional stabilisation, the NICE 3.0 optical reconstruction engine and vivo’s proprietary Ultra-Light HDR technology.

For additional shooting versatility, the smartphone includes:

  • 50MP main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor
  • 50MP Sony periscope telephoto camera
  • 50MP low-distortion ultra-wide camera

The camera software also introduces Bright Portrait Rim Light and Bright Tone Diffused Light effects, alongside 4K Live photography support.

8,400mAh Battery, 100W Charging and OriginOS 7

Battery capacity is another standout specification of the iQOO 16.

The smartphone packs an 8,400mAh Blue Ocean battery, supported by 100W wired FlashCharge and 40W wireless charging.

It runs OriginOS 7 and includes several additional flagship features, including Esports Network System 3.0, N79 band support and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Other specifications include a Warhammer MAX dual-axis motor, Drum Master Pro symmetrical dual speakers and IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance ratings.

iQOO 16 Malaysia Availability and Expected Launch

The iQOO 16 will be offered in four memory and storage configurations:

  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB storage
