The REDMI Watch 6 Lite is Xiaomi’s latest attempt to make smartwatch features accessible without requiring buyers to spend a fortune.
This 1.96-inch AMOLED display watch nonetheless has quite a character with the screen, the built-in features as well as the battery life being something worthy to shout about.
On top of that, the REDMI Watch 6 Lite can also be used to answer calls directly from the wrist making it a watch that’s on-par with many higher end premium smartwatches out there.
I used the watch for two weeks, and here’s my verdict of the REDMI Watch 6 Lite.
Pairing the watch
Pairing the watch is pretty straightforward, but you need to make sure Bluetooh connectivity is switched on.

Once the watch is nearby my Android phone, it immediately ask to pair, especially when I already have the Mi Fitness app installed.
If that doesn’t happen automatically, I could just ‘Add Device’ by using the app, and it will also pair the watch with the app.
Design, comfort and durability
The REDMI Watch 6 Lite adopts a rectangular watch face with rounded corners, a flat-sided frame and slightly curved glass around the edges.
This gives it a modern appearance that is broadly similar to the Apple Watch Ultra, although the overall construction and software experience are different. It is key to mention that the watch looks very much flatter than it is, making it look really nice. The red button on the side just adds to its beauty as I love pairing red and black.

The watch measures 47.1mm × 39.6mm × 9.9mm, excluding the strap and protruding parts. It weighs just 27.8g without the strap and this is relatively low and hence making it very comfortable on my wrist.
Its frame is made from plastic with a metallic spray coating. This gives the watch a more premium-looking finish than plain plastic which to me looks very nice.

The watch includes a TPU strap which is flexible, lightweight and easy to clean after exercise. The strap is has a quick-release mechanism which makes it easier to change straps without specialised tools, but I should also mention the wave-textured black strap I received was rather good in my opinion. It was easy to use and kept its position well when put on.
In terms of durability, the REDMI Watch 6 Lite has a 5ATM water-resistance rating, but the screen doesn’t enjoy any extra protection. I’ve used it swimming and brought it swimming, and so far it has survived and works as usual.
Overall, I think the REDMI Watch 6 Lite a nice looking smartwatch which is practical for daily use.
Screen & Display
The 1.96-inch square AMOLED panel display of the REDMI Watch 6 Lite’s is perhaps one of this watch strongest feature. It uses a with a resolution of 410 × 502 pixels and a pixel density of approximately 332 pixels per inch.
This results in a clear, colourful screen for reading the time, checking notifications and viewing fitness information. Text and icons appear sufficiently sharp for a smartwatch in this price category.
The display supports peak brightness of up to 1,500 nits making the display visible even in bright outdoor environments. This is an important feature for me as I can check the time as well as my notifications regardless of environment I am in.

Aside from that, the watch also comes with Always-on Display, and adaptive brightness, both well complementing the peak brightness capabilities.
Also, as far as watch faces are concerned, there’s so many to choose from with Xiaomi able to offer watch faces which are not only very vibrant, but informative.
Customisations
The watch comes with plenty of customisations but most are to be done using the Mi Fitness App. There’s plenty of watch faces to choose from with me taking quite sometime to decide on which I’d use as my main watch face.
Once selected, the AMOLED screen really makes the watch face pop up.
Aside from that, I can also change the layout of the watch and activate features like DND, Silent mode, notifications, auto workout detection more, hence making this watch very much customisable.

The location for each customisation is also well planned so I don’t end up ‘lost’ when trying to customize the watch.
Health tracking & sports mode
The REDMI Watch 6 Lite comes with over 150 sports mode and built-in five system GNSS. This is equal or better than other more expansive smartwatches out there.
The sports mode detection can be automated, and the health tracking includes things like All-day sleep monitoring, All-daay blood oxygen monitoring, All-day heart rate monitoring, breathing exercise and All-day stress monitoring. For ladies, there’s also the Women’s health management to count your period cycles.

Overall, the healt monitoring as well as the sports mode functions are quite complete in my opinion while it’s accuracy seems similar to what I got from my Apple Watch, though it does seem that the data in the Mi Fitness as well as the ones displayed by the watch to be more detailed as complared to the ones I aam getting from Apple.
Other Features
The REDMI Watch 6 Lite runs Xiaomi HyperOS and it also allows Bluetooh calling, which means I can call and recieve calls. The voice from the call is good enough and connection seems to be pretty stable as well.
I can also control music on my phone, check my calender, check my task, use a stopwatch, flash light, set my alarm as well as access my favourite contacts on the watch.
It is nonetheless too bad that I can’t listen to songs with the watch altough I could look for my phone and check the weather if I wanted to.

The watch does away with third party app integration which can be a minus point for some. For me, its not a problem because if the Mi Fitness already delivers all, why bother with third party apps?
One thing that annoyed me most with the watch is how it dimmed quite fast during use. I know this is perhaps due to its energy saving feature, but at times, I needed more time to check out the features hence the annoyance.
Battery & charging
The REDMI Watch 6 Lite comes with a 470mAh battery with Xiaomi saying it can reach 18 days with light use, around 12 days under normal conditions and approximately six days with heavy use when the Always-on Display is enabled.
Out of the box, and without changing any settings, the watch was able to last for a good 15 days on my personal use.
Charging is handled through the supplied magnetic charging cable but since the watch does not offer the kind of universal wireless charging experience keeping this dedicated charging cable is important.
Conclusion and Where to buy
Overall, the REDMI Watch 6 Lite is a strong contender in Malaysia’s affordable smartwatch market. Its appeal comes from a sensible combination of features rather than a single headline specification.
The 1.96-inch AMOLED display is bright, the lightweight body should be comfortable for everyday wear, and built-in satellite positioning makes the watch more useful for outdoor exercise. Bluetooth calling, more than 150 sports modes, advanced swimming tracking and health monitoring further strengthen its value.

Its battery life is another major selling point particularly appealing to people who do not want another device that needs to be charged every night.
I have no problems with the plastic frame and I generally favour how the watch looks although I am still a fan of round watches.
Despite that, with a Malaysian retail price of RM249, this is a very difficult watch not to like and own especially if you are keen to have your health monitored without burning a hole in the poket.
The REDMI Watch 6 Lite is available through Xiaomi Malaysia’s official website, physical Xiaomi Stores and official brand stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.
