OPPO this week revealed the OPPO Find N which is their very first foldable smartphone.
According to OPPO, the Find N is a result of four years of research and development and six generations of prototypes.
OPPO Find N highlights
Among the key things to highlight in this new smartphone is how it uses a landscape ratio for the inner display, in which it can switch between an immersive 7.1-inch inner display and a 5.49-inch outer display without compromising on size or usability.
It has an 8.4:9 aspect ratio when unfolded and a 18:9 aspect ratio when folded.
To ensure the folding mechanism won’t give way, OPPO is putting their trust on the Flexion Hinge.
The hinge design practically eliminates the gap between displays when folded hence offering a more integrated look and better protecting the inner display from scratches.
When it comes to the display, the smartphone comes with a custom 12-layer Serene Display that offers excellent protection and durability.
The inner screen uses an LTPO display with smart dynamic refresh rate technology that adapts the refresh rate anywhere between 1-120 Hz based on the content you are watching. The inner display also features support for a touch sampling rate of up to 1,000 Hz.
To accommodate the foldable feature, OPPO has also adjusted the software in this smartphone to allow it to sync with the scenarios it will be used in.
Foldable smartphones usually don’t carry impressive camera detail but the Find N is equipped with a flagship-level triple-camera setup which includes a 50 MP Sony IMX 766 main sensor, a 16 MP ultra-wide lens and a 13 MP telephoto lens.
The smartphone also comes powered by a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 888 Mobile Platform, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage and a 4,500 mAh battery which is said to offer an all-day battery life.
The battery charges with a 33W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge that can get you up to 55% in 30 minutes charge, or a 100% in just 70 minutes.
It also comes with 15W AIRVOOC wireless charging (compatible with standard Qi) and 10W reverse wireless charging.
In terms of biometrics, the OPPO Find N includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that is housed in the power button.
The foldable smartphone comes in three colours, black, white and purple.
OPPO Find N Malaysia price and availability
The Find N is available in China from December 23 with prices starting from RMB7,699 ($1,200/€1070).
The biggest bummer however is that this challenger to any other folding smartphone will likely not reach OPPO Malaysia as OPPO was said to be not interested to bring the smartphone outside China.
Regardless, if you look hard enough, I’m very sure the OPPO Find N smartphone will find its where to either Shopee or Lazada. I found one being sold at RM6,999 on Shopee.
