ASUS may not seem that strong in the smartphone department, but the Zenfone 3 which I had reviewed recently had changed my mind on the smartphones produced by this tech giant.
Just recently, say yesterday, ASUS decided to introduce an 18:9 screen smartphone named the Pegasus 4S in China, and I have a feeling that this phone would be something worth to look into if you are keen to change your phone next year.
Specifications wise, the phone is really a mid-range smartphone running on a MediaTek MT6750T chipset, which has an octa-core processor running at 1.5Ghz. It is paired with 4GB of RAM 64GB of storage, which is standard these days.
The screen is 5.7-inch, with only 1440 x 720 pixels, but since (if I am not mistaken) this is the first 18:9 screen smartphone by ASUS, I guess the low density is forgiven especially since ASUS decided to retain the 3.5mm audio jack. A massive 4,000mAh battery powers this phone.
At the back, there’s a dual camera set-up comprising of a 16 and 8 MP camera with a fingerprint scanner.
Lowyat quoted Gadgetmatch as saying the phone will only be available in China for the time being, but there’s a slight chance it may head to South East Asia soon.
Nonetheless, as Lowyat said, the name ‘Pegasus’ is for the China market, so when it does reach South East Asia, there’s also a chance ASUS Pegasus 4S would be rebranded to some ‘Zenfone‘ model.
