While Spotify Car View is great for switching songs while driving as it switches you to a specialized mode which has larger displays and little clutter, I personally never liked it, preferring the more delicate and small full display.
The music streaming company this week was said to have confirmed that it will stop the feature with through a reply via an official response to a Spotify community forum user.
The forum moderator was said to have confirmed that the Car View is no longer showing up in the app’s Settings menu, and no concrete reason was given for the retirement of the feature.
It was quoted that the moderator said “We can confirm that we’re retiring the car view feature. This however doesn’t mean we don’t want to improve on how our users listen to Spotify while driving. On the contrary, we’re actively exploring a variety of new ways to deliver the best in-car listening experience. Think of retiring car-view as something that needs to happen in an effort to make way for new innovations coming down the track.”
I know there’s an option to disable the Spotify Car View feature, but I’ve always found the mode rather annoying when trying to change my playlist while driving.
That said, the retirement of such feature is something I fully accept and love.
