HONOR 90 5G Unboxing: A rear that steals the show

I obtained the HONOR 90 5G from the mail yesterday and immediately did my unboxing of the newest smartphone from HONOR.

The smartphone was shipped out to Kuching by HONOR Malaysia for my review.

Video of the unboxing

Before I proceed on, check out the unboxing video below to hear how I tore open the parcel, wrapper and finally took out the phone.

As you may have noticed in the video, inside the box, there’s a 66W Honor Supercharge, and accompanying USB-C cable and a transparent silicon case.

HONOR 90 5G design highlights

The smartphone comes in a candy bar design with a small punch hole front camera. It measures 161.9mm in length, 74.1mm in width and 7.8mm in thickness, with a 6.7-inch AMOLED Quad Curved Floating Display screen with very tight bazels completing its front design.

It’s not hard to love this smartphone to be honest because it weights just right at 183g and the size is just right.

The back feels matte, and the bright Peacock Blue colour I received looks rather unique under different shades of light. From afar, it looks rather silverish, monotone blue at some angles, but once you get closer, the blue is quite evident, and there’s feather like designs in the back.

Location of the volume buttons, as well as the power button is similar to the Honor Magic5 Pro I reviewed a couple of months ago.

The same goes to the bottom chin which houses the USB-C charging slot, the SIM tray and the phone’s speaker.

Up in the upper chin, there’s no speaker visible so I do suspect there’s only one sound outlet for this phone.

In conclusion, the phone feels comfortable in my hands, and I like how the rear design doesn’t attract fingerprints and doesn’t stick to one colour.

What I didn’t really favour is how the dual rings make the HONOR 90 5G unstable when placed on flat surfaces, as you can see in the photo below, but that’s how far flaws go for this smartphone for now.
