The government will provide 1GB free internet for all in Malaysia until 31 December 2020 through the Penjana Short-Term Economy Recovery Plan.
Malaysia Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin in a live telecast today said that the free internet will be made available from 8AM to 6PM daily.
The free internet will allow users to surf the internet for education purposes, read news and do video conferencing.
Detailed information on how the 1GB free internet will roll out has yet to be announced as for now, but local Malaysian telcos are expected to roll out the 1GB free internet accordingly.
Aside from the free 1GB internet, Muhyiddin also announced unlimited access to government owned and government supervised COVID-19 websites and apps under Penjana.
During the Movement Control Order and the Conditional Movement Control Order, Malaysian telcos had offered free internet for their customers.
