Earlier last month, I had the priviledge to review the realme 13 Pro 5G, but this time around, I have in my possesion, the realme 13 5G.
Naming wise, the realme 13 5G eems to be similar to the realme 13 Pro Series, but it’s different because while the realme 13 Pro series focuses a lot on its camera capabilities, the realme 13 5G Series is looking at being a gaming beast.
Nicknamed Gaming Dominator, the realme 13+ 5G is the official gaming phone for the 2024 Honor of Kings Championship which is happening from 12 to 27 October 2024. This one I have, is the vanilla variant of the series, named just realme 13 5G.
Anyway, here I give you my first impression of this new smartphone as I take a look at this device for the first time.
Box and package
The realme 13 5G box has some grooves to it, saperating it perhaps from cheaper models made by the smartphone.
Beyond that, the box looks very similar to other realme smartphone boxes I’ve received so far.
Inside, there’s the smartphone itself, a USB-C cable, a SIM tray pin, a charging 45W ultra charging block and a transparent silicone case.
First impression of the realme 13 5G
The realme 13 5G comes in two colours, Speed Green, Dark Purple. I got the Dark Purple variant which looks really nice though I think the phone would look so much better if the ‘marble like design’ extended to the whole phone.
Despite that, the rear isn’t a finger print magnet and still retains its nice ‘marble like’ elegance despite countless handling.
The phone’s sides are flat with the screen itself also being flat without any curved screen, a stark contrast from what I had in the realme 13 Pro.
When using the phone, the flat sides are noticeable, but it is not a deal breaker because despite these flat edges, using the phone is still comfortable enough.
Smartphones with flat edges like the realme 13 5G also benefit from being able to use glass made screen protector which is not only easier to apply, but provides better protection to the phone.
The flat edge also means that it can be stand by itself on a flat surface, important if I want to take photos and didn’t have a tripod.
The phone also comes with dual speakers, a pin hole front camera, and a triple camera set-up.
At the bottom of the phone is a 3.5mm audio jack, the USB-C port and one of the two stereo speakers.
The left of the phone is empty, and the top of the phone has a speaker hole as well as the SIM tray.
On the right, there’s two buttons to play with, one being the volume button, and the other being the power button which also doubles as a side mounted fingerprint scanner and voice control (Google Assistant) activator.
For charging, the phone is equipped with a USB-C which can be hooked to the 45W charger, and the phone is a bit lightweight for my liking.
The screen offers vibrant accurate colours but the bezels which surround the screen are noticeable.

Conclusion of the realme 13 5G first impression
I do not know the actual price of the realme 13 5G, but I think it will be cheaper than the realme 13 Pro Series.
I do like the colour combination, but have reservations regarding its weight and wished the marble like pattern extend to the whole back panel.
However, both are personal choices which aren’t deal breakers and I am excited how this MediaTek powered smartphone would feature when I do more test which are related to gaming because that’s where it is expected to really shine.
