My first impression of the Xiaomi Redmi 14C

Last month Xiaomi released the Redmi 14C, under its affordable brand Redmi. The Redmi 14C comes in two variants, the with two different RAM and storage space configuration, with one having 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage space, with the other getting 8GB RAM and 256GB storage space.

For the purpose of this review, I obtained the 6GB + 128GB variant which was in Sage Green.

Box and package

The Redmi 14C I obtained came with 6GB RAM + 128GB of storage. The RAM can be pushed to 12GB thanks to Redmi’s RAM expansion technology.

Inside the box, there was the phone itself in Sage Green, a transparent silicone case, a 33W Fast Charger with a Type-C plug head and a USB-C charging cable.

The box as well as the wrappers inside the box highlight the phone’s specialty like its 6.88-inch screen, 33W fast charging capabilities, Octa-core processor, as well as its 50MP Ai dual camera, and 5,160mAh battery.

First impression of the Xiaomi Redmi 14C

The phone feels large and long in my palms but I like the weight it has. It feels premium despite being a budget friendly smartphone.

Using the phone is easy and the flat screen doesn’t bother me as well.

The rear matte back feels nice to touch and there is no fingerprint smudges even on the shiny round camera bump.

I do appreciate the vivid colours and 6.88-inch Dot Drop display which has an 89.7 screen to boy ratio, but didn’t favour the larger bezel as compared to the rest of the screen on the lower chin of the phone.

I also appreciate the 3.5mm audio jack on the top of the Xiaomi Redmi 14C which to me is the best position for an audio jack is available.

Other than that, the phone feels and looks very promising as an entry level smartphone although I personally feel 128GB is a bit too little for smartphones of this era.

Unboxing and first impression video

I recorded my unboxing of the Redmi 14C, and you can see what I have to say about the phone below.

Conclusion of the Redmi 14C

Overall, the Redmi 14C seems to be a very promising smartphone particularly since it is within the entry or budget friendly segment.

I like the rear design which is matte and at times feels like leather, and I like how both the glossy rear camera bump as well as the rear does not attract any fingerprint smudges.

I’m not too crazy about the lower chin bezel as well as the storage space offered, but I don’t see it as a deal breaker considering its pricing.

That said, I am excited to do my full review of the Xioami Redmi 14C in the next few days and will update you about it soon.
