If you have not heard, the regular Xiaomi Pad 5 is going global. The Pro variant, which is the higher end variant of the tablet isn’t coming along unfortunately.
Xiaomi launched the Pad 5 for the global market over the week and there’s a lot of excitement about this new tablet, largely because it’s affordable with adequate specifications.
You may have known that the Pad 5 has already been launch in China, so a global launch like this means it will go to other markets, like, Malaysia.
Just in case you didn’t know, the Xiaomi Pad 5 has an 11-inch 1440p+ 120Hz IPS LCD screens with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support.
It’s powered by a Snapdragon 860 chipset and comes with a 8,720mAh battery. It supports Xiaomi’s Smart Pen, and like the Apple mini 2021, you can snap the pen to the side of the tablet so that it doesn’t get lost easily.

Right, you want to know when it’s coming to Malaysia?
Unfortunately, there’s no mention when the Pad 5 will arrive in Malaysia. I’m crossing my fingers it will be soon, and maybe Xiaomi Malaysia will lend me a unit for testing.
Nonetheless, for the global market (which means Europe), there the vanilla Pad 5 in two memory options – 6GB/128GB and 6GB/256GB.
They will retail at €349 (RM1,799) and €399 (RM1,999) which is more expensive than the prices (after conversion) if you got the tablet directly from China.
Anyway, if you are keen to be among the first to grab the tablets, a search on both Lazada and Shopee might result in you finding some sellers bringing the tablets via unofficial channels.
Else, we can just wait and hope Xiaomi Malaysia brings in the duo soonest.
