Three years Android support for vivo flagship X series

vivo announced that it is expanding its Android support for its vivo flagship X series.

This means that the phone company is committed to provide three years of major Android OS upgrades for selected models launching after July 2021.

The updates will also include security updates, which will likely help improve functionality and stability when using these devices.

vivo says it aims to extend the high-end smartphone experience offered by the X series devices by ensuring continuous improvements based on evolving consumer trends and exciting new software innovations.

This new policy covers the European, Australian, and Indian markets.

According to vivo, premium X series models that are not eligible will continue to receive regular Android security updates.

Personally, the move is much welcomed, but as a Malaysian, I can’t hep but feel rather bothered with the fact that the Android support for vivo will not be as extensive as mentioned.

This is because owners of the recently launched vivo X60 smartphone in Malaysia will likely not be affected by the policy since the policy only covers flagship X series launched after July 2021.

Aside from that, the policy itself doesn’t affect Malaysia which is not within the three markets vivo had clarified to be directly affected by such policy above.

Anyway, if you are still keen to get the phone, it’s available online.
