OPPO Find X5 Series announced in China

OPPO today introduced its cutting-edge flagship OPPO Find X5 Series in its homeland, China.

The series bring along OPPO’s dedicated imaging Neural Processing Unit, which is said to overcome smartphone video capture’s greatest challenge – night time recording.

The capability is then matched with an incomparable dual flagship IMX766 camera system, unrivalled performance and ultra-fast 5G connectivity, and incredible SUPERVOOC Flash Charging technology.

Highlights of the OPPO Find X5 Pro

I won’t go in detail about each variant under the series, but focus more on the OPPO Find X5 Pro which has all the whistles and bells.

For starters, the body of the smartphone is made of ultra-hard, true ceramic and it comes in either Ceramic White and Glaze Black.

The Pro variant gets a 6.7-inch ultra-clear curved AMOLED screen with WQHD+ resolution, and 100% P3 colour gamut coverage.

The panel also comes with a 8192-level screen dimming feature in the Find X5 Pro which will make viewing experience more comfortable.

In terms of vulnerability, the Find X5 Pro is splash, water, and dust resistant with an IP68 rating.

As mentioned above, the dedicated imaging NPU, MariSilicon X is introduced and included in this series.

It is said to pack the most powerful AI computing power available today, but it also runs an advanced AI noise reduction (AINR) algorithm designed by the OPPO Research Institute.

This means it can detect and reduce noise in each frame, pixel by pixel while preserving finer detail, skin tone, colour accuracy hence resulting in a four times improvement in perceived night video resolution with less grain and superior colour reproduction.

The NPU is paired with Sony’s advanced 50MP IMX766 flagship sensors which come in both wide and ultra-wide angle cameras with the wide-angle camera featuring a first-of-its-kind Five-axis OIS system. The OPPO Find X5 Pro features Hasselblad Natural Colour Calibration in Pro Mode as well.

The front camera features Sony’s IMX709 sensor which is well integrated with the MariSilicon X as well.

Under the hood is the latest-generation, multicore Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor which offers 30% higher performance, and 25% more power efficiency than the previous generation.

The 5000mAh dual-cell battery comes with Battery Health Engine, which helps maintain optimal battery life over a longer period of time – up to 1600 charging cycles, and enhanced 80W SUPERVOOC Flash-charging technology.

This means the phone can  juice up to 50 per cent in just 12 minutes, and with 50W AIRVOOC, it can powers up to 100 per cent wirelessly in just 47 minutes.

Like most OPPO new smartphones, the Find X5 series will use the new ColorOS 12.1 which improves on usability and also security.

OPPO Find X5 highlights

A ‘lesser’ variant to the Pro variant is the OPPO Find X5.

It comes with ultra-premium finish, with frosted, matte glass and fingerprint-resistant chassis.

It’s available in Black or White, with the fine grain of this 90% frosted texture creating a beautiful, almost silky lustre that plays with light and feels incredible in the hand.

The screen is 6.5 inches with 120Hz billion-colour display.

Despite being slightly less illustrious than the Pro variant, the Find X5 still includes the outstanding dual IMX766 camera system, powered by MariSilicon X, and support for 80W SUPERVOOC charging, and 30W AIRVOOC wireless charging.
