Telegram Premium has finally arrived, but to selected users as of now, with some, like myself, still unable to gain access to the Premium version.
Nonetheless, the app which is considered WhatsApp’s closest rival with over 700 million monthly active users introduced a new subscription service that lets users unlock exclusive additional features on the chat app.
According to the company, Telegram premium “will allow us to offer all the resource-heavy features users have asked for over the years while preserving free access” to the messaging service.
The premium option is however not yet available to everyone. It is noted that one would need to upgrade their Telegram to version 8.8 of the app on the iOS App Store to see the Premium option.

Android Authority says these are among the features reserved for those on Premium are:
- 4GB Uploads, which means you get more uploads than the 2GB restriction on free Telegram
- Faster downloads
- Increased limits to follow channels, chat folders and more.
- Voice-to-Text in which you can convert voice messages into text
- More stickers and reactions
- The chat management will be improved for Premium users
- Premium badges and animated photos
- Redesigned app icon
- No adverts
With no less than nine privileges, would you upgrade to Premium if you are on Telegram?
