The controversial color filter on the OnePlus 8 Pro has been disabled entirely by the brand in their latest software update.
In case you didn’t know, the color filter is also known as the ‘X-ray camera’ because it can see through certain material which include clothing, plastic and glass.
According to reports, the update is for the global variant of the device which received the OxygenOS 10.5.9 update.
The update, marked as a stable update, disables the color filter camera.
This comes after reports prior to this suggest that only the China-based versions of the phone which run on HydrogenOS will get their color camera filters blocked.
However, now it is firm that the camera is disabled to avoid what OnePlus claims to be ‘privacy issues’.
Despite the disabling of the camera, I do expect OnePlus to release another update to enable the camera back again, but minus the ‘see through’ feature.
Either way, the OnePlus 8 Pro is still a great phone and can be bought at in Lazada at RM3,988.
