HONOR is making waves in the technology world after teasing a groundbreaking new form factor—the ROBOT PHONE—at the Magic8 series launch event in Beijing, China, yesterday.
This announcement is a significant step in the company’s broader HONOR ALPHA PLAN, accelerating its mission to become a global leader in the AI device ecosystem.
The HONOR ROBOT PHONE is envisioned as a “new species of AI device” designed to redefine future human-machine interaction and coexistence.
It promises to integrate three core functionalities: AI-powered multi-modal intelligence, robotic functionality, and advanced handheld imaging capabilities.
This innovative convergence positions HONOR at the forefront of AI device innovation.
The company is guiding the evolution of mobile technology from the traditional smartphone to the AI phone, and now toward the ROBOT PHONE.
Starting with the new Magic8 series, HONOR is leading the development of self-evolving AI phones—devices engineered to continually advance their hardware performance, system interaction, and application ecosystem through AI-driven learning.
With the ROBOT PHONE, HONOR paints a picture of a future where the device is more than just a tool.
The company envisions it as an emotional companion that can sense, adapt, and evolve autonomously, much like a robot.
The ultimate goal is for the device to enrich users’ lives with love, joy, and wisdom. This vision moves the mobile phone closer to a personalized, sentient assistant capable of autonomous operation.
Accompanying the announcement, a set of initial conceptual images were shared as seen below.

While these images do not reveal the final product, they are crucial for speculating on the device’s form and function which include speculations that it could feature a close-up of a new mechanical component, perhaps illustrating a unique hinge or a robotic joint that enables autonomous movement or transformation. This would be central to the “robotic functionality.”
In addition, the phone might have autonomous operation as the photo shows the phone in an adaptive, robotic state—for example, standing on its own, adjusting its angle to follow a user, or actively using its advanced imaging capabilities for hands-free photography.
The phone is also expected to have AI Integration which may focus on the multi-modal intelligence, showcasing a futuristic interface overlaying the camera, demonstrating its ability to simultaneously process and respond to visual, auditory, and contextual information.
HONOR plans to unveil more detailed information about the ROBOT PHONE at MWC 2026 in Barcelona.
The company’s ambitious timeline suggests that 2026 is poised to be a pivotal year, bringing exciting new hardware and software innovations in AI devices from manufacturers and AI companies worldwide.
