When I first say this, I thought it was too good to be true. So good, that I am now considering to actually buy the Samsung Galaxy S9.
You see, Maxis, a telco which I have been using for the past few years, is now offering the Samsung Galaxy S8 for FREE, with every purchase of the Samsung Galaxy S9 or Samsung Galaxy S9+.
There’s a catch nonetheless; You need to pay in full RM3,299 for the Samsung Galaxy S9 (or S9+), and you will need to take the most expensive MaxisOne Plan which is RM188 per month. Also, there’s this mention of ‘Share Line opt-in mandatory’, which means you need to also get a sub-line with Maxis, adding a minimum RM48/month on your bill.
This largely means you’d end up paying RM236/month, which is not too expensive if you are already sharing lines with someone. If you aren’t RM236/month, for two years is hefty, despite the 60GB internet data, and unlimited text and calls.
The rest of the plans as you see below, do not come with the free phone.
If you have RM3,999 to spare, then the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is also in the equation

I am considering, but since I don’t have a sub-line, I’d probably not.
I don’t exactly need a new phone, but having a new one, especially since I use the bike to move a lot nowadays does require that I get one of em’ waterproof phone, and the Galaxy S9 does fit that categories. But then again, this is just me justifying to buy the phone.
But if you have the cash, do need a change to a more premium phone, and also coincidentally have a sub-line, getting on board this plan is a definite no brainier.
