The realme 14x 5G I received from realme Malaysia for this review was in Carbon Black.
At first glance, it had captured my attention as it blends durability, design, and performance in a phone.
In this blog post, I’ll delve into the details of this affordable phone powerhouse. This first impression post will be slightly different from the ones I typically write as I try to venture into more details of the devices itself as well as notable upgrades from its predecessor, the realme 12x.
Box and Package
Opening the box of the realme 14x in Carbon Black is an experience in itself. The packaging is sleek and minimalistic, reflecting the brand’s commitment to quality.

Upon lifting the yellow lid, I’m greeted with the smartphone itself, elegantly presented despite being wrapped in smooth plastic.
Inside the box, I found:
- realme 14x 5G in Carbon Black
- 15W Fast Charge: Ensuring fast charging capabilities
- USB Type-C Cable: For data transfer and charging
- SIM Ejector Tool: For easy SIM card installation
- Clear Protective Case: Offering immediate protection for your new device
- Quick Start Guide & Safety Guide: Providing essential information and support
The clear protective case is a bonus often given by realme, ensuring the device is shielded from the moment I unbox it.
I do still prefer the coloured cases like what was given in the realme 13 Pro, but perhaps those cases are for higher end devices.
What’s new in the realme 14x 5G
Holding the Carbon Black coloured realme 14x 5G for the first time draws my attention to its sleek design and robust build quality.

Despite being rather solid black at a glance, the back panel looks premium with its matte, transparent light-and-shadow texture.
The slim body has rounded corners which make it easy to grip and use, and if compared to the realme 12x, the realme 14x 5G comes with better built quality with military-grade shock resistance which is also SGS-certified, an IP64 dust and water resistance rating, and Sonic Wave Ejection.
The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset processor of this device is also an upgrade from its predecesor as the device feels responsive and handles multitasking with ease.

In addition to that, this smartphone now comes with Google Gemini, making it one of the few within its price range to have such AI capabilities.
With Gemini, I could circle to search, improve blurry potraits and use things like AI Image Matting.
In addition to that all, the phone also shares a camera arrangement similar to the premium phones, making it look very stylish.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Realme 14x 5G is a formidable contender in the budget smartphone market. The Carbon Black looks really nice, but you also can get it in Peridot Green.

It blend of durability, performance, and modern design makes it a valuable choice for users seeking a reliable device without spending a fortune.
The standout features include:
- Durable Build Quality: Military-Grade Shock Resistance With IP64 rating
- Impressive Battery Life: 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging
- Powerful Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G Chipset
- Upgraded “Brain”: Now comes ith Google Gemini
I will be using the phone for a couple of days to further test the phones capabilities, so wait up for my full review soon! Meanwhile, you can see realme’s latest prmotions HERE.
