HONOR is continuing its strong run in Malaysia’s mid-range smartphone market, with the HONOR X Series maintaining its position as the country’s No. 1 best-selling mid-range smartphone series for four consecutive years.
According to HONOR’s data, the X Series held the top position for 37 consecutive months from February 2023 to March 2026, while achieving a peak market share of 68% in Q4 2025.
The figures highlight the growing demand among Malaysian consumers for smartphones that offer a combination of long battery life, durability and reliable performance without moving into higher price segments.
But for HONOR, the X Series’ success is about more than market share.
The company says the series has evolved into an everyday smartphone range trusted by more than 130 million users globally, with its focus increasingly centred on practical features designed around everyday use.
Battery life remains a key selling point
One of the biggest attractions of the HONOR X Series is battery endurance.
HONOR has progressively increased battery capacities across its X Series smartphones, with newer models designed to handle longer periods away from a charger.
The HONOR X9d 5G is one of the clearest examples, featuring an 8,300mAh Silicon-Carbon Battery aimed at users who spend long hours on calls, messaging, gaming and other demanding tasks.
According to user experiences shared by HONOR, one X9d user who primarily uses the smartphone for work reported getting up to 12 hours of usage on a single charge, including calls, WhatsApp and other work-related activities.
Battery endurance can also be particularly useful for delivery riders and other users who rely on their smartphones throughout the working day.
One HONOR X9c 5G user reportedly used the device for navigation and communicating with customers throughout the day, allowing him to leave his power bank at home.
HONOR X Series puts durability front and centre
Battery life is only one part of the X Series formula. HONOR has also made smartphone durability a major focus across recent generations.
The HONOR X9b 5G was the first smartphone to achieve a Five-Star Overall Drop Resistance certification from SGS, according to HONOR.
The company subsequently introduced further durability features with the X9d, which became the first smartphone to receive the SGS Triple-Resistant Premium Performance Certification, covering resistance against drops, dust and water.
The HONOR X9d also features IP69K water and dust resistance, providing additional protection for users who regularly operate their smartphones in challenging environments.
Real-world usage is another area highlighted by HONOR.
One X9d user reportedly said the smartphone had survived multiple accidental drops by her child while remaining in good condition.
For delivery riders, meanwhile, water resistance can be particularly important.
One food delivery rider shared that he had used the X9d for several months without a waterproof cover, including during rainy conditions, while the smartphone continued to function normally.
Performance is still important in the mid-range segment
While battery life and durability are major selling points, performance remains a crucial factor for smartphone buyers.
The HONOR X9d 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Mobile Platform, positioning the device to handle everyday applications, gaming and content creation.
HONOR says users have also praised the smartphone’s gaming performance, including its ability to handle demanding titles such as Call of Duty.
For content creators, the availability of 512GB storage provides additional space for photos, videos and other large files, while also allowing users to edit content directly on the smartphone.
This combination of hardware and endurance reflects the changing expectations surrounding mid-range smartphones. Buyers are increasingly looking for devices that can function as an all-day work, entertainment and content-creation tool rather than simply a communications device.

With the X Series maintaining its No. 1 position for four consecutive years, HONOR is now preparing to introduce the next chapter of its mid-range smartphone lineup.
