HONOR has officially launched the HONOR Robot Phone in China, introducing a new smartphone category that combines robotics, artificial intelligence and professional imaging technology.
The flagship device features a fully motorised 4-axis mechanical gimbal system built directly into the smartphone, allowing its camera to physically move and track subjects. HONOR says the system transforms the phone into an “active physical companion” and a mobile production studio.
Titanium gimbal built for movement
At the centre of the Robot Phone is HONOR’s Titanium Agile Gimbal, developed using more than 100 precision components and backed by over 100 patents.
The compact mechanism is 65% smaller than mainstream gimbal systems while offering 200% greater structural strength. Its 2.6g Titanium Gimbal Motor supports movement speeds of up to 360 degrees per second, enabling rapid camera positioning and stabilised shots.
The camera system supports several automated shooting modes, including Tilt Lock, First Person View (FPV), FPV Vertical and AI SpinShot.
Dual 200MP cameras with ARRI technology
HONOR is also positioning the Robot Phone as a serious mobile filmmaking tool through its cinematic imaging partnership with German cinema technology company ARRI.
The rear camera system features a 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.6 aperture, alongside a 200MP Periscope Telephoto Camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and 2.7x optical zoom. A 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 122-degree field of view completes the setup.
The main camera supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording in ARRI CINEMA mode. The phone also incorporates ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks, allowing creators to capture and preview cinematic colour profiles.
HONOR’s H1 Image Chip works with AI processing to improve video noise performance and dynamic range. The company says its system can deliver up to 14 stops of dynamic range, while its video pipeline processes footage in 14-bit 4:4:4 before outputting 10-bit LogC3 and 4:2:2 video.
The workflow is designed for creators who want to move footage from the phone into professional editing software such as DaVinci Resolve for further colour grading and post-production.
AI turns the phone into a personal camera crew
Running on MagicOS, the Robot Phone introduces YOYO Robot Mode, combining multimodal perception, gesture recognition and physical camera movement.
Its AI Live-Tracking and Voice Source Localization features allow the camera to automatically pan and tilt to keep a person in frame. Users can also deploy the camera arm and take photos or videos using hands-free gestures.
HONOR’s YOYO Auto Execution further enables its AI agent to understand user intent and perform multi-step tasks across supported applications and system functions.
The company is also opening access to third-party developers through its Agent Skills interface, potentially allowing developers to create new experiences around the phone’s gimbal, perception and embodied-AI capabilities.
Flagship hardware and large battery
The HONOR Robot Phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform and features a custom cooling system designed to maintain performance during demanding tasks such as extended video recording.
It packs a 7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery, with support for 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The device features a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 6,800 nits. HONOR also includes 4,320Hz PWM dimming and its NanoCrystal Shield protection.
China pricing and availability
The HONOR Robot Phone is available in China in two configurations:
- 12GB RAM + 512GB storage: RMB 9,999
- 16GB RAM + 1TB storage: RMB 12,999
HONOR first showcased the Robot Phone at MWC 2026 before demonstrating its capabilities at events including Cannes Film Festival’s China Night and the Shanghai International Film Festival.
The company says the device is now beginning its commercial rollout, although details of international availability and Malaysia pricing have not been announced in the provided launch information.
HONOR Malaysia unveils new brand identity
Alongside the Robot Phone announcement, HONOR Malaysia has introduced HONOR’s new brand logo and “Dare to Be” slogan.
The refreshed identity reflects HONOR’s broader transition from a smartphone manufacturer into an AI device ecosystem company, with its portfolio increasingly covering AI, robotics, imaging and cross-device connectivity.
HONOR also confirmed that technologies developed through its partnership with ARRI will continue into the upcoming HONOR Magic9 Series, signalling that cinematic imaging will remain a major focus of the company’s next-generation flagship smartphones.
